Santa Fe Solstice Shaman Voyage II:

The South

Landing between the sunset and the sunrise on the night of the full moon, I knew it would be a time of growth and balancing. As the sun represents the masculine (men), and the moon represents the feminine (women), so it is the work of the feminine to shape and refine that which she reflects back onto the masculine. In that way, men know themselves through the women in their life. In that way, women shape the relationships with the men that they know. (Yogi Bhajan).

The full moon was at 4:34 MDT, where I was in Santa Fe, following the second direction on the medicine wheel that corresponds to the summer solstice: the South. The animal totem of the south is the clever coyote, who is excellent to call upon when you need a solution. The element is water, and the attributes are clever, quick-minded. It governs the emotions. Another reminder for a time of big emotions.

The solstice time, 4:34, adds up to the number 11, which is considered a master number. In other words, you should expect something out of the ordinary to happen. Interestingly, numerology.com turned up the following item:

“In the case of the 11 (a double 1), it has the traits and personality of the 1 twice, and when added (11 = 1+1 = 2) becomes a 2, thereby combining the most powerful male energy (the 1, Zeus) with the equally potent female energy (the 2, Hera). Considering that the 1 and the 2 are on opposite ends of the spectrum and the sum of their combined attributes pretty much overshadows all other attributes assigned to the numbers 3 through 9 you can perhaps imagine a merging of the strongest, most driven and aggressive warrior, an unstoppable masculine energy, with the supremacy of the most intuitive, feminine, and cunning goddess. And even that does not reveal the true essence of the 11 Master number: The 11 symbolizes the potential to push the limitations of the human experience into the stratosphere of the highest spiritual perception; the link between the mortal and the immortal; between man and spirit; between darkness and light; ignorance and enlightenment. This is the ultimate symbolic power of the 11.”

When that many sources add up to the same information, I feel as if we are really meant to take notice of what source is wanting to show us. In this case, it is time for the knowledge of balance, of equality, of feminine and masculine.

I am left with a puzzled smile at the situation we have created for ourselves. Women, the more complicated and sophisticated gender in their physical machinery, number of life cycle initiations, use of both left and right brain hemispheres, and possession and use of quite the dictionary of emotions—have been disempowered. Even the bodies that govern our very own bodies are simply male. The Congressional Women’s Health Committee? All male. (Click here to see the hilarious Amy Schumer video: Dr. Congress).

So as a species, we have disempowered and invalidated our source of great wisdom: women and the feminine. The voice that can help us has been imprisoned in a complex power struggle that intelligently negates any attempts at dismantling. It is a great challenge to find and reclaim your authority from a prison cell. But it must be happening, and I will tell you the main evidence I see for that: the proof is in the enormous resistance to change right now. This means that change is indeed happening. The resistance shows itself in our elections and power struggles as extremists take center stage in country after country. The more fearful (and therefore not in their highest selves of love) and often less educated (and therefore more fearful) halves of our populations are on high alert, as the basic fundamentals of what we know and accept are shifting.

I often think to myself that the hands of fate lie in the female Muslim population. The population that most emblemizes the imbalance of male authority and extremism in our present day. They could lead the way to the new paradigm. Clever coyote, guide us!

I spent the actual Solstice with two dear friends in the heart of love: the Sikh Community in Espagnola. This is for the pure of heart, those who are ready to fill their heart with pure love and release any negativity and blocks towards this eventuality. I powerfully recommend the experience. Click here: Www.3ho.org. Through a series of yoga postures, chants, meditations and partner exercises, I left floating in a dream of heaven on earth: my own pure heart and self love. Each of us has but one task only: to address and heal the feminine/masculine imbalance (and all other imbalances) in our own hearts and souls. Change is actually always internal. Choose high powered rituals/initiations for the task and you can create quite a lot of growth in just one experience.

The nature, natives, creativity and spirit of Santa Fe once again deliver a powerful perspective upgrade. Thank you Southern Solstice Energy, it was an elevating trip.
